I have been through hoops to both make and choose my first image. I walked round and round the house and garden, taking lots of different photographs. It occurred to me, finally, that seeing this project 52 weeks long and the weather is nice here that I’d be better to work outside while I can. So after taking lots of architectural details, which will still be there in the winter I settled on something which will not. There were lots of tomatoes in the garden, bumble bees flying, but the patterns and shapes the leaves and flowers worked for me. Then the colour vs B&W question. I find in many images that colour distracts, so I removed it and now this backlit fig leaf looks like a subdivision map, with highways, roads and residential areas. In colour it looked like the back of a fig leaf!
Each week I'll publish a new image as part of a joint Project 52, with my friend in the USA. We both make an image every week, and send them to each other. We are now in the 2nd year of this project. We find it challenging, stimulating and fun. Life should be fun.
